Join Ames, Iowa Chapter AFWA today!

The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) (formerly American Society of Women Accountants or ASWA) was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The first chapter was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Members include partners in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academicians, financial analysts and data processing consultants, recent college graduates and women returning to the work force. The mission of AFWA is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession. Many of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.

The Ames Chapter of the Acounting & Financial Women's Alliance was founded in 1990 and currently has 20 members. Meetings are generally on the third Wednesday evening of each month. Student members can join at reduced rates. For membership information, contact the membership committee at Click here to join.

The Chapter is proud to announce that in 2017 it again sponsored scholarships for area students. In addition to the Beverly M. Wandling Memorial Scholarship, applications were also accepted for the Kathleen M. Strum Memorial Scholarship. Applications for both scholarships were due in February 2017.  Click here for more information or contact
