Scholarships

AFWA Ames Chapter #158 has awarded chapter scholarships to local students since 1994.

The deadline for the 2018 scholarships was March 1, 2018. Applications were available for: (1) the 2018 Beverly M. Wandling Memorial Scholarship, and (2) the 2018 Kathleen M. Strum Memorial Scholarship.

To be considered for the Beverly M. Wandling Memorial Scholarship, an applicant must:  1. Be a resident of or attend college in Story, Boone, or Marshall Counties of Iowa; 2. Be a full- or part-time student with a declared major in accounting or finance in a two-year, four-year, or master's program; 3. Be committed to the mission of AFWA and exhibit enthusiasm for the accounting or finance profession.

To be considered for the Kathleen M. Strum Memorial Scholarship, an applicant must:  1. Be a non-traditional student; 2. Major in accounting; 3. Attend Iowa State University; 4. Support her family with one or more children; and 5. Be employed.

Kathleen M Strum Memorial Scholarship 2018, AFWA Ames Chapter #158

Deadline for applications for this scholarship for 2018 has passed.

The 2018 Beverly M. Wandling Sholarship was awarded in the spring of 2018 to Iowa State University student Alyson Knutsen. The Kathleen M. Strum Scholarship was not awarded in 2018.

The 2017 Beverly M. Wandling Scholarships were awarded in the spring of 2017 to Iowa State University students Leah Harvey and Jael Kupl. The Kathleen M. Strum Scholarship (first offered in 2017) was not awarded in 2017.

The 2016 Beverly M. Wandling Scholarships were awarded in the spring of 2016 to Iowa State University students Mitchell Arnold and Shelby Beilke.

AFWA Educational Foundation Scholarships
Each year, the Ames Chapter may forward one or more applications to The Foundation of AFWA for consideration for the Foundation scholarships.

In 2015, a Chapter sponsored applicant, Katelyn Pringnitz, Iowa State University, was awarded an undergraduate scholarship from The Foundation.
